The school is situated in the village of Stapleton, conveniently near the M32 motorway. The main Lower School buildings date from the 18th/19th centuries. Recent additions to the buildings include a Classroom Block and Assembly Hall, a Pre-Preparatory Department and Nursery, a Science/Technology Unit and an Art Room. The Lower School shares the facilities of the Middle and Upper Schools; the 28 acres of playing fields include tennis courts, squash courts, a sports hall, an outdoor heated swimming pool, and an all-weather hockey pitch. The school also owns a cottage in the Wye Valley which is used during term and holidays as an adventure centre.
Following a transfer examination at 11 the majority of pupils move from the Lower to the Middle School and then to the Upper School. The curriculum covers the full range of academic subjects including Modern Languages along with Art, Technology, and P.E. There is also a Learning Support Unit with full time staff.
There are two afternoons of sport each week, the main games being rugby, netball, hockey and cricket. Soccer, squash, tennis, rounder, swimming and athletics are also available. Music and Drama are both included in the curriculum and there are a variety of productions throughout the year. All pupils are encouraged to take part in the numerous activities which take place after school. Many outings and holidays are also arranged. In particular trips to Europe, skiing and outward bound type activity weeks and weekends.
